Become a Personal Trainer

finished 4/6/19

2/6/19 I signed up about a month ago to become an ACE certified personal trainer. I had all but decided to take this off of my list, but then I changed my mind. I was thinking about what brings me joy in life and that is teaching and organizing and planning. So I watched Tidying Up on Nextflix and got a bee in my bonnet about being a personal organizer and helping people find joy in their surroundings. When I was unable to get into the training immediately, I looked to the next way I could bring joy to people and that is through teaching them how to take care of themselves and love who they are, to find joy in their bodies. Finally, I thought about one more area I would like to explore and that is the realm of tantra and not because it is thought to be about sex. I watched a short series on Giam about it and it is so much more. It is about being connected on a very personal and deep level with ourselves and with what brings us joy. It fits perfectly with what I want to accomplish. Here is my mission statement, Awakening joy in at least 500 people through physical fitness, tantra enlightenment and domestic prioritization with a vision statement of Awakening joy in your body, mind and home. Or here is another one Helping you find joy when you look in the mirror, your soul and your cabinets.

I have already put a lot of time into the trainer lessons and hope to be able to take my test by the beginning of April. I listened and watched a trainer at the gym last night and I think I would enjoy it. I want to do things differently though because I want it to be about finding your joy and that will look different for everyone. I have to remember not everyone is organized or committed or will even be interested in finding joy, but I hope through my website I can paint a picture that will inspire others to seek joy and let me help them along their journey.

I’ve chosen the gerbera daisy as my symbol because it brings me joy. Every time I look at one, I smile. I want others to feel that when they look into the mirror, their soul and their cabinets.

4/6/19 I set a goal to get my personal trainer certification by early April and I did it. Today I took my test and passed. I have a plan of action, as usual, for what I want to do now which includes a little more training and preparation, but I think I will see if I can try to teach a class on myofascial release and stretching to start. I am proud of myself for getting this done. This was actually the easy part. The hard part is putting myself out there to actually get clients. I am not a salesperson, but I do believe in the benefits of exercise and nutrition to our physical and mental well-being. I think I may need to focus on building up the physical and mental portion of my business and then add the organization after that. I did say this would be a year of preparation. I’m going to do a bit of research to see what gyms around here offer in terms of stretching and myofascial release. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a class on that and I think people are interested enough that they might give it a try at least. I’ve also thought about incorporating some learning moments into my classes so people walk away with something for their bodies, minds and souls.

I’ve been reading Start with Why and I think it is very important for me to understand why I am doing this. I want this to be about me helping others change their lives. I want them to experience freedom of mind and joy of heart.
