Started 7/18/16
I was just going to schedule out these phone calls on my calendar, but I decided "what the heck," I'll just give him a try now. Honestly, I wasn't even sure I had his current phone number. Turns out I do and he actually answered the phone. He was totally shocked to hear from me. I really can't remember the last time I talked with him on the phone. We had a great conversation. We talked about work and mom and retirement and dad and it was great. We talked for 50 minutes. I know, because I just looked. I had forgotten how well we get along and how much we think alike. I actually like my brother. We are both just lazy or maybe we just don't think it is important enough to call one another. Life just gets in the way. Well, hopefully that will change. I mean, how hard is it to pick up the dang phone every now and then. I can hear my mother cheering in my head. It's not pretty.
OK, I used my handy-dandy google calendar to schedule my phone calls with reminders. I scheduled them for Sundays.
11/28/16 I totally skipped one of these. I did not want to call, plain and simple. I looked at the reminder on my phone and just couldn't be bothered. That is pitiful especially since I had such a good conversation with him last time. It required emotional energy I didn't have to spare. I will see him soon. I guess I could call this weekend. I could.
8/24/17 OK, so obviously I have failed thus far at this one, but I did just visit my brother albeit for a short period of time and I feel like I saw him over Christmas, so technically I am counting those. Love talking to my brother and Dawn. They make me laugh and I genuinely enjoy being around them. I will do better on this. I think I will put my reminders in the calendar again.
1/1/18 I sent Bryan and Dawn a Christmas present sent him a Happy New Year text today.
8/11/18 Ha! Forced to talk to Bryan on FaceTime and he totally hated it. Said it creeped him out. 50 years old today. Still looking handsome.
11/16/18 Called my brother to chat about mom’s big news. Had a great time bantering back and forth with him. Always makes me laugh. What a great man!
